The House Saloon Investigation

The House Saloon used to be a segregated bar, back in the days before integration. There was a window in back where the black people in town could order their beers. Rumor has it that at least one person was killed there. Paranormal activity has been reported. The owner says she has seen a woman standing in the bar, heard sounds, and found the back door standing open in the morning, after having locked it the night before. Amy, the owner, came in early one morning and heard the water go on in the ladies room. When she checked, it was empty! One night a customer came in and ordered a round for all. When he turned to offer the lady on the bench her beer, she was gone, and nobody else had seen her. Off the Trails Paranormal investigated. We found some orbs. However, the major evidence comes from the ovilus and spirit box. We found at least three spirits inhabiting the pub. One is a man who worked there long ago. He seems to have been a slave. He said he is attached to the land, and not the building. When the owner, Amy, told him he was welcome anytime, he answered, “Don’t care!” Another is a woman. The third is another man. We picked up the names, “Derrick and Anthony,” and an uncle’s name. Amy held a conversation with someone who told her that she wasn’t alone at night, and that he or she was watching her. A family who are friends of hers stopped by, and one of them said, “If there are any black people here, what do you think about that flag?” A Confederate flag is hanging on the wall. The K2 meters flashed to red immediately and the Mel Meters spiked. We believe she had her answer! There spirits we encountered didn’t seem to be negative in any way. We believe the saloon warrants further investigation, and hope to return.

D & S Signs

D & S was originally the black theater in town. Later it was a grocery store. Today Denise and her husband Scott run a sign business. They have recently purchased the building next door, and are renovating it. We investigated both structures. In the first, we had a spike of 1.5 on the Mel Meter in a corner that I felt held something strange when I first walked through. There were unexplained creaks on the backroom floor when none of us were there. Greg and I heard humming in the back room, like a child’s. When we asked Denise, the owner, what the activity she was experiencing was, she told us, “You tell me.” We found out when we heard all the knocking in the building where they have their business! Knocking in one room, then another! Once, it was so loud and so rapid that I thought somebody was in the next room trying to trick me, but the room was empty! I managed to get the entity to either turn on the flashlight or turn it off, but never to tell me anything. I couldn’t even find out if I was speaking to a man, woman, or child. We were thinking it had to be a child, due to the contrary behavior and knocking, which could be considered playful. The ovilus articulated the words “business, reverend, and send.” The entity appeared to be unwilling to discuss the manner of death. Denise then told me that the man who had owned the grocery store committed suicide, and they had sent for the pastor. The grocer often allowed people to buy on credit, and didn’t collect. Later, it came to light that he was bankrupt, but due to his stubborn nature, he hadn’t sought help. His refusal to answer our questions seemed to concur with the stubbornness. It’s he who Denise thinks is in her building. There seems to be no threat to anyone. We think he wants them to know that he is still there.
