In 1872, the Denhams built a beautiful thirteen room home. Since the 1990s, Pat Inman has operated it as a Bed and Breakfast. Are there ghosts there? We think so, and so do many others! It was featured on the Anderson Cooper show, and is part of the “most haunted small towns in the south.” The house itself is set on lovely grounds with moss covered oak trees and flowers. A welcoming veranda with wicker chairs fronts the home.
We stayed in the Blue Room, considered one of the most active, and also investigated the Gold Room next door, the cupola, and the parlor and dining rooms downstairs. We had some luck in the blue room. Pat told us that Sarah Denham’s spirit has been seen in the rocking chair in the Blue Room. In the morning, before we left, the REM Pod sitting on the floor in front of the chair went off! Sarah? The ovilus said some very relevant words such as “cotton” and John Denham made a fortune in cotton. The ovilus also said” gauze, dressing, ear, operation, and bones.’ We found out from Pat that a doctor once owned the house. Further, he kept bones in the cupola! As I was getting ready to shower, I jokingly said, “Any men here shouldn’t look. Be gentlemen!” The ovilus said “Laugh!” Also, when I was going into the bathroom another time, the ovilus clearly said “necessary”. An old term for the bathroom is the necessary room. Somebody has a sense of humor! In the Gold Room, I heard the words, “judgment, statement, verdict, and sentence.” Judges have owned the home. Judge Anderson is believed to still be there! Through the ovilus I also hear several old fashioned names: Ida, Harriet, Sam, and Derrick. Although Pat wasn’t familiar with most of them, she did know of a Sam. The ovilus also said “Pat”, several times, and, while I was wearing a crystal, it said “crystal.”
Greg was taking stills downstairs when he noticed a shadow move across the living room, and then again on the ceiling in the back part of the inn. He wasn’t able to capture them on camera, so it will have to go down as personal experiences. On two different occasions I felt cold air go across my shoulders, once in the Gold Room, and then again in the dining room at the breakfast table.
We have some photos of orbs over the house, in the garden, and outside of the cupola.
In reviewing audio evidence on our videos, we heard stomping or knocking several times. Pat, in discussing Judge Anderson, told us that he was a big man, and made noise when he walked. Was it he walking around? We also heard a little voice murmur something, but couldn’t understand it.
We hope to return to the Denham House soon.
