Welcome to the Fire and Safety Museum! The original Station 3 was built in 1926. It’s a beautiful Mediterranean building that reminds us of a small castle. The most often experienced entity is Robert, a young fireman who was electrocuted as he returned from a call. He jumped off his truck into a puddle. A downed line was in the water. Because he had no rubber boots, he died. He’s only been on the job 11 days! We had three personal experiences while there! We spent time in the common room, galley, bathroom, and three bedrooms. The experiences were all in the common room/galley area. The first was when we were sitting in the common room, and suddenly we smelt a strong smoke odor. There was no explainable reason for the scent, so we think it was Robert returning from a call. Then Robert showed his sense of humor. We were checking the temperature with the MEL meter. It dropped a bit, so I said, “Good Robert! Keep it going down!” It went back up! So Greg said, “OK, take it up a little more.” The temperature dropped again. Once more, we asked him to take it up some more, and it dropped. This contrary behavior went on for about six more times before Robert left the room and left us chuckling. Finally, we were sitting in the room with the laser light on. I remarked that I felt cold, and Greg said, “Just a few seconds ago, I thought the lights were disturbed above your head!” He snapped a few photos, and there are orbs above my head! Other people have experienced little girls, a former Commander, and an unidentified older man.
Across the street is The Hanging Tree, used many years ago, when Ft. Lauderdale was a crossroads. People were executed there. Pictures show many orbs. It is a sad and angry place. We were asked not to go to the tree after dark, due to some of the neighborhood residents making the area unsafe.
