Fort Knox - Prospect, ME - August 2012

Ft. Knox, Maine

The first, original Fort Knox is in Prospect, Maine. Built for the American Revolution, it provided protection to Americans and safeguarded American but English claimed land. Constructed at the Penobscot River Narrows, it offered strategic views of the river and land beyond! It was used during the War of 1812 when Great Britain claimed Maine as their territory. It was named for Henry Knox, the secretary of War, and built of granite. The fort never saw actual combat! Since 1970, it has been on the Register of Historic places.

During OPI’s daytime mini-investigation, we explored the officers’ quarter, enlisted men’s area, terreplain, and the other parts of the fort. The history there is noteworthy! We did get a two EVPS, found some cold spots, and captured some energy orbs. The voices we heard said, “Who’s this kid?” and “ooh” twice. We are currently planning to return in the near future for a full investigation.
